You may want to start looking at college web sites to check out requirements, application process, college size, financial aide, location, college majors, programs of study, degrees, etc. They are free sites with many quick links.

 

College Searches

Ř       Christian County Public School’s site – go to Student tab—click on Regional College link or type in these web addresses:

Ř       Go Higher Kentucky is a great free site.  It has KY college search, career searches, virtual campus tours, applications, scholarships    www.GoHigherKy.org/

 

Ř       KHEAA is a great site for obtaining financial aide information.  You can login and look up the KEES money in your account at www.kheaa.com/ , also.

 

Ř       The Princeton Review is another good site.  It has nation wide college searches, specialty colleges search like: medical, law, business, fine arts, graduate…  www.princetonreview.com

 

The ACT test  

 If you are going to college ---you must take the ACT test.  To register for the October 28, 2006 test, you will need to register before September 22, 2006

 

v      You may register on line using this link:  http://www.actstudent.org/

 You will need a credit card to pay for the test.

 

v      You may register my mail using the packets in the guidance office.

 You must include a check for $29, and mail it in yourself.

 

v      If you qualify for free or reduced lunches, you may have one free voucher (so that you do not have to pay the $29).  See Ms. Chenoweth.

 

Practice for the test

It is best to practice before taking the ACT test.  There are several ways to improve your test taking skills.

3.  Mrs. Barrett, in Room 506, is planning on having ACT workshops throughout the school year.  The dates have not been firmly set yet.

 

 PSAT test

Mrs. Hudson will administer this test on Wednesday, October 18th, from 8:20 am until 11: oo am.  You may register for taking this test in Mrs. Hudson’s office.  You must pay $13 to take this test. 

 

ASVAB test

The armed services will administer this test at CCHS on Thursday, November 2, 2006.   You may register for this test in Mrs. Hudson’s office.  There is no cost to taking the test.
